There’s a lot of thought that goes into creating a restaurant floor plan. From kitchen space to dining room flow, there are several little details that contribute to how successful your operation will be. While designing the layout of your new restaurant, be sure to remember the plumbing and use these helpful suggestions when planning the space.

Which Plumbing Features Are Essential in a New Restaurant Design?

1. Kitchen Plumbing

The kitchen is the hub of your restaurant, and it requires extensive plumbing to function properly. In a single space, you’ll need to hook-up a large refrigerator, a freezer, several sinks, and a sizable dishwasher. When designing the layout, consider what stations you need and where to place them. For example, you might want the prep station and sink next to the fridge for convenient access and minimal movement. You should also consider placing a hand-washing station near the entry of the kitchen so that your team can wash-up after securing their belongings.

2. Guest Restrooms

plumbingThe guest bathrooms in your restaurant should be accessible, but separate from the dining room. Ideally, you should look for a location that will allow this plumbing to line up with the kitchen pipes to save money on water lines. Guests will appreciate a restroom, and you can choose from a single stall layout, separate gender rooms, or a multi-stall design. Consider adding extra features in the restroom, like an automated water faucet or soap dispenser.

3. Bar Taps & Sinks

A bar top provides extra seating for waiting guests and helps to bring in extra revenue. A wet bar will require the use of sinks, ice storage, and a soda gun. For extra flair, install a dispenser to serve beer on tap or a wine fridge to keep bottles at optimal temperatures.
