2. Have Your Keys Ready

3. Carry a Noisemaker 

If a stranger approaches you in a way that feels threatening, make as much noise as possible. Keep a whistle in your purse or a safety alarm on your keychain. Use it when you feel threatened to draw attention to yourself and bring nearby civilians or authorities to your aid.
