If you have a wine cellar or bar in your home, you may wonder how to transport liquor while moving into a new residence. From using the right packaging materials to carefully loading and unloading, there are several ways you can ensure the bottles make it from point A to point B safely. Relocation services recommend the following tips on how to pack and move them.

4 Tips on Packing & Moving Liquor

1. Get the Right Supplies

relocation serviceThe best way to pack liquor bottles is by putting them in specialty wine boxes, which have Styrofoam dividers, that are available wherever packing supplies are sold. If you want to save money, get cardboard cell boxes from local liquor stores. Don’t forget packing tape and paper as well.

2. Reinforce the Boxes

No matter what types of boxes you use, it’s important that you reinforce their bottom ends. Line them with double-layered corrugated cardboard and secure the edges with extra packing tape. Don’t use boxes that are old, weak, or show signs of damage.

3. Wrap the Bottles

Unless your wine and liquor bottles fit perfectly into the cells, you’ll need to wrap them with packing paper. Use two to three sheets for each bottle and roll them up while folding in the edges. Hold the paper together with a strip of packing tape.

4. Pack & Seal the Boxes

Carefully place each wrapped bottle into the boxes. Add packing paper as necessary to provide cushioning at the bottom and prevent the bottles from colliding into one another. Tape them closed and mark them as “fragile” so your relocation service will know to handle them with care.
