As a Christian, it’s imperative to build a personal relationship with God. Bible study plays an essential role in this form of fellowship; however, people are often busy and struggle to find time to fit devotionals into their daily lives. Here are five tips to help you prioritize this task and grow in your faith.

How to Add Devotion or Bible Study to Your Day

1. Start the Mornings With God

People are often more likely to do something when they prioritize it first thing in the morning. Try reading a few passages before getting out of bed to start the day off on the right foot. Online resources, such as Our Daily Bread, offer short readings and daily devotionals that are perfect for morning reading. Spend just 15 minutes a day on the site, and you could read the entire Bible in a year.

2. Make It a Family Habit

Many parents struggle to find time to practice devotions because they give all their time and energy to their kids. Therefore, make family Bible study a daily ritual. Have the kids read aloud before dinner or close out the night with bedtime stories from the Bible.

3. Be Flexible

Study while waiting for an oil change, at the laundromat, or waiting at a restaurant for friends. There are also many Bible apps that make the entire book available on a phone or tablet.

4. Listen Up

Most people spend time in the car or on public transit each day. Use this in-between period to brush up on the Bible. Listen to an audio version of the book or find a Christian podcast, spending this time concentrating on the Lord.

5. Join a Group

Many Christians are unsure how to study the Bible by themselves. By joining a church group, you’ll gain friendships and form community while reading and discussing verses. A group may even help you memorize those favorites you’ve been meaning to nail down for ages.
