Exercise is important for losing and keeping weight off for long term.  What can you do to help keep your routine going strong? Sometimes you need a little push in the right direction to keep motivated with your workouts.  These simple tips can help you do just that!

  1. Try a fitness tracker. From a Fitbit to a simple pedometer, these tools can be good motivators. Learning how active you are on daily basis is a great piece of information and provides a number to shoot for, making physical activity more exciting.
  2. Start with small, simple goals. If you have not worked in a full scale workout yet, that’s ok.  Start with a steps goal, or set a goal to do 3 – 10 minute walking sessions per day.  Keep moving in any way you can!
  3. Make a favorite show or podcast your “exercise event”. You can only watch or listen if you are working out.  If it’s something you really enjoy then you will get a double-bonus during your workout.  
  4. Get new gear. New comfortable shoes, workout clothing, or even a new water bottle can help you take that first step. 

Exercising with a group or a friend is also a great way to hold yourself accountable.  Find what works best for you.  Don’t forget to match your eating plan with your workouts to maximize your weight loss success.
