1. Take Breaks

If you’re at a public event that keeps patrons on their feet, spend some of that time walking around and shifting your weight between your legs. 2. Stretch

Start by touching your toes to stretch out your hamstrings, and then press your hands against a wall and lunge on your legs behind you, reaching your heels to the ground to stretch the calf muscle. If you feel up to it, try some full lunges to stretch the quadriceps and hips, and then stand up and lean side to side to stretch out your torso. If you experience neck pain due to standing, roll your head in circles to ease shoulder tension when possible.

3. Invest in Insoles

Like the foundation of a house, the support you give to your feet will have a direct impact on your back while standing. To ensure your arch is supported, invest in insoles that will slip into a pair of closed-toe shoes. Make sure the shoes fit properly; pairs that are too loose will lead to sliding around, which could put more pressure on your legs and back muscles. The insoles should also add cushioning beneath your heel and the balls of your feet for shock absorption.
