Whether you’re opening a hotel, expanding an office, or renovating a shop, the interior design should always be one of the top priorities. Although commercial spaces don’t have as much flexibility as residential homes, that doesn’t mean they can’t experiment with certain trends. Even with stringent style guidelines, there are many concepts this year that can easily be implemented. Here are some of them.

2019’s Top Interior Design Ideas

1. Color Through Accessories

For the past few years, the walls of a room have been the go-to for bold color placement. But for 2019, many interior designers have opted to leave them white. Doing so pushes the color to the accessories, such as the seating, artwork, or light fixtures.

2. Comfort

The Danish concept of “hygge” has flourished over the past few years, and the trend continues into 2019. As the epitome of comfort and contentment, it can be expressed through plush fabrics, cushions, and wooden finishes instead of metal. Specific industries, like hospitality and health care, especially benefit from creating a warm, welcoming, homey design scheme.

3. Florals & Plant Life

Another way to increase a sense of coziness is by bringing some of the natural world indoors. It can either be done by using floral patterns for the upholstery fabric or by decorating with a plethora of potted plants.

4. Sustainability

In addition to plants, designers are bringing greenery inside in another significant way: sustainability. Installing energy-efficient fixtures is growing in popularity, but sustainability also involves featuring eco-friendly materials, such as organic fabrics for upholstery or one-of-a-kind furniture made with reclaimed timber.

5. Art Deco

Despite the emphasis on sustainability and the future, art deco has been making a bit of a resurgence. Characteristics of the style include interior design elements like rich jewel tones, intricate lines, and bold sculptural pieces. If it conveys a sense of opulence and elegance, it fits the style.
