The event is sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association and celebrates early learning, children, their families, and educators. 

About the Week of the Young Child 

In addition to celebrating children and those who nurture, love, and teach them, the event will raise awareness about the needs of youngsters and their families while recognizing the programs, services, and organizations that meet those needs, according to the NAEYC. The NAEYC started the event in 1971 to recognize the significant role a child’s early years have in shaping their lives in and outside the classroom. It is also an opportunity for everyone to consider what they can do to help children in their community better.
