Not every plant does well indoors if they need direct sunlight and lots of room to stretch their roots. However, some actually fare better in the warm, sheltered conditions of a sunroom. Here are a few options to beautify your patio room and freshen up your home.

Which Plants Grow Well in Sunrooms?

1. African Violets

The African violet has a graceful, frilly bloom which makes it especially popular. They prefer filtered light, which means they'll do well in your sunroom. Just make sure to let your water stand before giving it to them, as they're sensitive to chemicals found in most tap water.

2. Boston Ferns

For greenery rather than flowers, get a Boston fern. This plant is a beautiful choice with its elegant draping fronds. As long as you mist it once or twice a week, it will produce ample, vibrant green growth.

3. Orchids

SunroomOrchids have a reputation for being finicky; however, some varieties fare well if they are kept warm and watered regularly—usually as seldom as once a week. Moth and Cymbidium orchids offer a wide selection of colors and blooms.

4. Spider Plants

For the easiest growing experience, choose a spider plant. These distinctive options will flourish in almost any condition. Just be aware that the runners can take root in nearby pots, so space them a safe distance from other plants.

5. Hibiscus

For a tropical touch, choose a hibiscus. Their generous blossoms fare well in warm indoor temperatures with plenty of water. You may need to move them to get the best light, so keep them in a small, portable pot.
