At Tres Carnes, we are always looking for new ways to turn any meal into a celebration. One way that we love to spice up our Mexican food is by throwing one of our famous Micheladas into the mix. While many people assume that a Michelada is just a Mexican Bloody Mary, there are actually some crucial differences that set our one-of-a-kind cocktails apart from the standard brunch-time libation.
A standard Bloody Mary is typically made with celery salt, one lemon wedge, one lime wedge, vodka, tomato juice, Tabasco sauce, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, ground black paper, one celery stick, and smoked paprika. A typical Michelada on the other hand, swaps vodka for light Mexican beer and incorporates Mexican hot sauce along with lime, kosher salt, tomato juice, and Worcestershire sauce. As you can see, there are some overlapping ingredients, but the main difference is the use of a Mexican lager instead of using hard liquor which creates a much lighter taste.
At Tres Carnes, we use Modelo Beer and offer three unique Micheladas;
1. Mariachi Michelada - Chipotle in adobo, blood orange juice, vegetable juice, tomato juice, Tres Carnes Tomatillo salsa, hot pepper vinegar brine, agave syrup and Tres Carnes’ spice mix and salt.
2. Michelada de Humo - Chipotle in adobo, filtered water, lime juice, agave syrup, and salt.
3. Michelada Clasica- Valentina Hot Sauce, lime juice, and salt.
