My Advocacy travels are keeping me busy, but mostly in the northeast, as of late.

  • imagePictured is the McGovern Brain Institute at MIT, where I attended an information session with fellow CAP Board members on January 29th, hearing about the latest Parkinson’s research and their exciting, nanotechnology-based effort with Professors Robert Langer, Ann Graybiel, and Michael Cima, that we will be jointly announcing in the very near future.
  • Here in Connecticut, I was thrilled to be a part of the recent “Shaker’s Anonymous” Open House at the Greenwich YMCA, where a series of programs were announced that include Boxing, Yoga, and Spin, geared towards PWP’s.  Shaker’s Anonymous is led by my friend Lynn Hagerbrant, who is a fabulous resource for PWP’s in Fairfield County – and beyond.
  • Congratulations are to the Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group, led by Sue Pelchat, which raised over $3,000 dedicated to exercise and related programs, at the Brandywine at a recent event.
  • Acorda Therapuetic’s Inbrija should be available sometime around the end of March.  This breakthrough, in the treatment of “off” periods, is significant.   The idea for this technology originated in the lab of Robert Langer, Sc.D., at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) – the same Robert Langer that CAP has been working with since last year in the quest for a major new Parkinson’s initiative using nanotechnology and potentially foundational breakthroughs in monitoring, drug delivery, and assessment tools.
