Frequent exercise keeps your body healthy, but it’s also a key aspect of eye care as well. Perform a few simple exercises every day to maintain your vision health, all of which can be done from the comfort of your couch. Below are a few examples to get you started.

3 Eye Care Exercises for Healthy Vision

1. Figure 8s

To combat digital eye strain, perform figure 8s. Sitting on a comfortable surface with your shoulders back and spine straight, pick a point in front of you roughly 10 feet away. Focus closely and begin tracing a figure 8 around it with your eyes. Trace in one direction for 30 seconds and then the other direction for an additional 30 seconds. Perform this action every day; a good time is when you take breaks from working on a computer.

2. Changing Focus

Start by focusing directly on the finger until it’s clear and the background is blurry, then move it away from your face. Find a stopping point and then focus on the background until it becomes clear. Focus on your finger once again and move it back toward your face.

3. Distance Focusing

Similar to the previous eye care exercise, hold your thumb ten inches from your face. Focus closely on it for 15 seconds; then, look away and focus on a point roughly 20 feet away for 15 seconds. Repeat five times. While the prior exercise sharpens your ability to focus, this one practices adjusting for distance.
