Condo living offers plenty of benefits, from easy maintenance to vibrant community features. But square footage can be a bit limited, so you need to make every inch of space count. If you’re in the process of downsizing or moving into a condo, here are some important room design tips to keep in mind as you work to fit everything comfortably into your new home.

How to Maximize Space in Your Condo

1. Choose Multipurpose Furniture

If you’re working with limited floor space, you need your furniture to serve double duty. Include ottomans with built-in storage or a coffee table with shelving underneath. These pieces allow you to cut down on shelving or boxes that would take up valuable space around the perimeter of each room.

2. Add Vertical Storage

3. Include Statement Pieces

Adding lots of different furniture pieces, lamps, and wall art can be a bit overwhelming in a small space. Instead, choose larger pieces that add scale and consistency to the room. For example, instead of two mismatched loveseats, add one large sectional that gives you just as much seating and takes up the same amount of space. Or instead of a gallery wall, add one very large piece of art that you can design the rest of the room around.
