When you’re expecting a baby, you’ll need to set up a nursery before the due date. From interior painting to furniture and decor, there are several details to consider as you design your little one’s space. Here are a few themes and tips to help inspire your project.

Interior Painting & Decorating Themes for Nurseries

1. Starry Night

Use a theme inspired by fine art, such as Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” Start with a base coat of dark blue interior paint then attach metallic gold stars in a swirling pattern from the walls to the ceiling. Last, install a toy with planets over the crib.

2. Circus Party

interior paintingCircus nursery themes are happy, colorful, and playful. For your interior painting job, create the effect of a tent with red and white paint stripes that extend out from the middle of the ceiling. Decorate the room with vintage circus posters, pennant flag strings, and plenty of stuffed animals.

3. Nautical

Nautical themes are a classic nursery design theme, but they allow plenty of room for modern touches. Opt for navy blue wall paint, but switch it up by adding a red or white accent. To create a sailor feel, use paint, trim, curtains, and rugs to show anchors and ship wheels.

4. Ballerina

You may want your nursery to have a fun pink vibe. Create a ballerina theme by using white and baby pink paint. Use tulle or taffeta as a crib skirt that resembles a tutu. Finish with ballerina silhouette vinyl wall hangings and a toy with ballet dancers.
