Ear to Shoulder Yoga Pose – How to Help Alleviate Neck Pain

The ear to shoulder pose is a basic yoga pose to help stretch the muscles in your neck and shoulders, which can be done in a sitting or standing position.

  1. While sitting or standing, look straight forward with your arms by your side.
  2. Take a deep breath and when you exhale, slowly bring your left ear to your left shoulder.
  3. You should feel a slight stretch in your neck and shoulder, hold this pose for up to a minute, or as tolerated.
  4. As you inhale, slowly bring your head back up to a natural resting position.
  5. Repeat this movement on the right side.

If you are a yoga beginner, it is important to remember that it takes time to learn and become proficient in yoga. It is important to take it slow, understand your limitations, and to modify any poses when needed. We recommend that you speak to your doctor before starting any new physical activity.
