Tacks

Brass tacks are recommended for projects where you want to prevent corrosion, such as outdoor furniture. Upholstery tacks have decorative finishes and are used to attach upholstery to furniture.

Brads

Brads are very thin nails made of wire and have a small head that is often asymmetrical. They can be driven in with a brad gun or by hand with a tack hammer. Because the head is so small and the wire so thin, these are used for delicate lightweight jobs where you don’t want to see it. There’s no need to putty the nail holes to conceal them. They are often used for small trim, delicate molding, and in cabinets.
