If you’re moving between the islands or to the mainland, you’ll need a freight transportation provider to safely relocate your vehicle. However, you should take a few steps beforehand to ensure your vehicle is shipped as efficiently as possible.

How to Prepare a Vehicle for Freight Transportation

1. Inspect the Car Fully

Inspect your car before shipment to get an idea of its condition and spot any issues, like leaks that could harm the other freight items. Make sure the tires are fully inflated so they don’t incur damage during transport, and check the battery’s charge so you don’t have a dead vehicle at your destination. Turn off alarms as well to ensure they don’t activate during the moving process.

2. Remove Unnecessary Items

freight transportationVehicles may get jostled around while being shipped, so take out extra items inside that may get damaged, including small items like chargers and spare change. If you have any custom products on your vehicle, like after-market audio equipment, you’ll also want to remove those and ship them separately.

3. Run Down the Gas Tank

Your car doesn’t need a full tank of gas for the journey. Extra gas will only increase the weight of the shipment. Before you leave, drive your car as much as possible without filling the gas tank so your vehicle is as light as possible for efficient transportation.
