Planning a wedding is a magical time as you’re looking forward to the happiest day of your life. However, it can get hectic when you’re trying to schedule the venue and catering while simultaneously keeping track of guest RSVPs. To help you organize your priorities, here’s a recommended wedding timeline.

10 Months

As a rule of thumb, give yourself 10-12 months to prepare for the wedding. Determine a budget first so you know your limitations. You can then make a guest list and explore wedding planning services if you need a hand. Research venues and catering services at this time as well so you can secure the ones you want well in advance.

Eight Months

catering-marians-cateringWith eight months left, you should have your venue and catering service locked down. Now is the time to focus on you. Shop for your wedding attire, put your registry together, and look at decor, such as floral arrangements. You’ll also want to interview photographers, videographers, and bands.

Six Months

With the wedding date on the horizon, you’ll want to touch base with the venue, catering, and other services you booked to confirm the dates again and update them on any changes. At this point, you should also have a finalized guest list. If guests are coming from out of town, reserve hotel rooms for them, and pick a place for the rehearsal dinner.

Four Months

Try to wrap up most of the major planning four months in advance to give you time to relax and provide a buffer if last-minute changes are needed. Confirm meal options with the catering service, and mail your invitations. Put together a schedule of the wedding day to give every service you booked to ensure they know when they need to be there.
