If you wear eyeglasses, you likely know the importance of cleaning them regularly to remove spots and streaks and prevent damage. However, you could be cleaning your glasses the wrong way without even knowing it. Here’s a detailed guide on cleaning your glasses the right way.

How to Properly Clean Your Glasses

Wash & Dry Your Hands Before Handling Glasses

Your hands should be free from dirt, oils and other substances before you touch your eyeglasses. Wash your hands thoroughly with a gentle soap and then dry them with a lint-free towel.

Use Warm Water & Dish Soap to Clean Your Glasses

After you rinse your eyeglasses under lukewarm water to wash off debris, apply a tiny drop of dish soap to each lens. Carefully rub both sides of the lenses and frames for several seconds. Rinse both sides of your glasses with lukewarm water again to wash away the soap.

Dry Your Glasses With a Dish Towel

The dish towel you use to dry your eyeglasses should be free from lint and completely clean. If there is dirt other debris on the towel, they can scratch your lenses.

Keep Your Glasses in a Hard Case

Avoid Wiping Your Glasses With Paper Products

It might seem harmless to wipe your glasses with tissues, napkins or other paper products because they feel soft. However, these products contain wood pulp, which can scratch your lenses.
