Laser treatment is a popular solution to revitalize your skin and achieve a glowing, youthful look. However, your skin will be in a sensitive state after the procedure, which is why you need to take extra care with it. Here are some after care tips to follow.

Do:

Reduce inflammation.

Many people experience red, swollen skin the first few days following laser treatment as part of the recovery process. Use a cold compress or ice pack on swollen areas to reduce inflammation. Also, keep your head elevated when lying down so blood doesn’t gather in your face. The swelling should go away within a few days; if it doesn’t, speak to your doctor.

Moisturize.

Don’t:

Wear makeup.

Keep your skin clean following a laser treatment so it can heal properly. That means not wearing makeup during the first few days. Makeup can cause irritation and clog pores while your skin is healing. Hold off on other skin care products as well if they contain acids or retinoids since those ingredients may cause further irritation.

Ignore your doctor.

While you’re recovering, stay in touch with your doctor about side effects, the state of your skin, and any concerns you have. They may adjust your after care regimen and will also schedule a follow-up visit to check on your progress.
