2019 is slated to be a big year for children’s movies, rife with new films, remakes of classics, and sequels. No experience can match seeing groundbreaking films at the cinema, and it’s a great way to spend time with the family. 5 Fun Kids’ Movies Debuting in 2019

1. “Dumbo”

Coming out March 29, “Dumbo” is a remake of the animated Disney original from 1941. The movie tells the story of a young elephant, Dumbo, who is able to fly with his ears and save a struggling circus. Directed by Tim Burton, the film features the adventures of Dumbo and his friends, as they attempt to thwart darker secrets taking place behind the scenes. It’s perfect for both longtime fans and children who want to experience this timeless story.

2. “The Lion King”

The original, animated “Lion King” defined a generation, after its 1994 released by Disney. Directed by Jon Favreau, the upcoming CGI remake of the Disney classic will attempt to capture this same effect upon its debut July 19. The film tells the story of Simba, the lion prince in Africa, in a classic coming-of-age narrative where good faces off against evil. Its star-studded cast includes Donald Glover, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, John Oliver, and many others. Best of all, James Earl Jones reprises his iconic role as Mufasa, Simba’s father, in the remake.

3. “Aladdin”

Adapted from the animated 1992 release, director Guy Ritchie retells the rags-to-riches story of Aladdin, a man who is given three wishes after discovering a genie. When an evil sorcerer attempts to steal the lamp and take over as the genie’s master, Aladdin is forced to fight back to rescue his newfound friend, save the princess he loves, and rescue the kingdom. Starring Will Smith and Naomi Scott, this movie debuts this spring on May 24.

4. “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”

Scheduled for release on February 22, the third installment of the “How to Train a Dragon” 3D animated series follows Hiccup and Toothless, as they fight to protect their dragon utopia. Their journey takes them deep into a hidden world, where they discover much about themselves and their friendship as they combat evil forces.

5. “Toy Story 4”

In “Toy Story 4,” Buzz, Woody, and a new toy named Forky set off on a road trip with familiar friends and new owner Bonnie. Along the way, they face the challenges of the big world while fostering meaningful relationships that help some find themselves and others overcome personal struggles. “Toy Story 4” is set for release on June 21, 2019.
