Many people suffer from chronic lower back pain….really excruciating, unbearable pain across the waist.  Doctors usually diagnose the cause of the pain as herniated discs or pinched nerves, or nerve compression in the area of Lumbar vertebrae 4 and 5. Some doctors prove their diagnoses with X-rays or MRIs showing the herniated discs. Their recommendations include costly back surgery, with a 78% failure rate. There is also Chiropractic work for possible pain reduction, Radiofrequency Ablation, (a procedure which destroys the nerve fiber carrying pain signals to the brain) or the most common, ever inspiring statement, “nothing can be done”. “Manage the pain with pain killers like millions of people do”.

As a Massage Therapist who specializes in Medical / Orthopedic Massage and BodyWork specifically for Pain Relief, I see such cases every day and I am here to say there is hope.

It is true that some situations are indeed dire and fall squarely in the path of the above remedies. It is also true that a great majority of back pain sufferers, even those with bulging discs and pinched nerves don't have to suffer. Here is the reason. Even though a herniated disk or pinched nerve may show up on the X-ray or MRI, it does not mean that is the only possible cause of the pain. Other factors like Soft Tissue (muscles, ligaments and tendons) inflammation, muscle spasms or tightness can cause the very same pain. In the majority of cases, treating the Soft Tissue inflammation reduces or eliminates the pain.

Soft tissue rehabilitation is very effective, non invasive and relatively inexpensive compare to the alternatives. Within a few therapy sessions you will know if its working for you. In some cases the Medical Massage is done in tandem with Chiropractic care for best results. The therapist will discuss your habits, both at work and home to attempt to identify which action(s) are creating the injury. Sleeping in the couch is one of many habits that contribute to back pain.

The Miracle of Massage has a proven track record of success and offers totally free, no obligation, Pain Relief Consultations. Try this before opting for more invasive procedures. One has nothing to lose but the pain.
