Your electrical wiring provides you with essential systems you rely on in every room of your home. Though you love having all the modern conveniences at your fingertips, you don’t want to have to look at unsightly power cords all the time. Sometimes arranging furniture around your electronics and appliances can solve part of the problem, but this is rarely ideal. Fortunately, there are some easy strategies you can use to hide those cords out of sight, giving your home a less cluttered look.

How to Keep Electrical Cords Out of Sight

1. Plastic Sticky Hooks

Cords for tabletop appliances such as lamps are unattractive hanging behind the piece of furniture. You can tuck them behind the legs of a nightstand or table using some sticky hooks. Affix the hooks to the backside of the legs and run the cords down them. If you want the electrical wiring cords to blend in even more, spray paint them the color of your furniture or wrap them in a cord cover.

2. Cord Management Kits

It can be attached vertically to the backside of a piece of furniture or even on the underside of your desk. They’ll securely hold your cords in place out of sight and allow you to control the direction that the cord moves as it’s secured.

3. Gutters

Gutters are an easy DIY solution for desks with a lot of cords plugged into your electrical wiring. Simply affix the gutter on the underside of the desk near the wall. You can then tuck in all your cords and even fit some larger power strips inside of it. Choose a gutter that’s the same color as your wall so it blends in seamlessly. If you need to access your cords to unplug something or move it around, this will be easy to do by simply reaching inside.

While tucking your cords away on your own is easy enough, working with electrical wiring should be left to a licensed electrician.
