You’ve probably noticed Bradley and John in working out early, before school.  You may have even seen them back in the evenings training again. These two young men are Beavercreek High School seniors and captains of the wrestling team.  They have a tireless work-ethic and internal drive to compete and excel.  Both Bradley and John have been part of the Bomber Crew for quite some time.  They have both made tremendous progress and in their wake they’ve brought other BHS wrestlers wanting to step up to the next challenge.  If you have the chance to meet these young men, say hello.  In only a few short months both Bradley and John will be graduating from high school and off to college – where I have no doubt they will set the example for many to follow behind them.

Brad: I was born and raised here

What accomplishment are you the proudest of (inside and outside of the gym)?

Brad: Inside the gym increasing my strength and improving my pullups. I wrestle 220 lbs and I used to think that doing more than one pullup wasn’t in my future. Now I just keep going rep after rep. Outside of the gym it’s my wrestling. I’ve competed all over the world but I’m most proud of being a Greco All American; Greco State Champ; Greco Regional Champ; and Junior Olympic Gold Medalist.

John: My proudest accomplishment outside the gym is earning Eagle Scout, while as inside the gym it’s how much I have improved and developed.

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?

John: My favorite meal after a hard workout is steak with broccoli.

Brad: Breakfast and black coffee.

What are some of your interests outside of CrossFit?

Brad: Wrestling. John and I wrestle year round competing in all three styles: Folk (high school), Freestyle (the kind the do in the Olympics), and Greco-Roman (also in the Olympics but all upper-body throws).

John: Some of my interest outside of the gym is anything outdoors and wrestling. I enjoy hiking, fishing, hunting, camping, etc.

What is one goal within the gym that you’re working on?

John: My goal I am working on inside the gym is to be the strongest I can be, whether it’s a 500lb deadlift or a sub five-minute mile, I just want to improve in everything I do.

Brad: My goal with the gym is to help with wrestling after high school. Bombers is helping me prepare for everything I want to accomplish next year and beyond.

What are you going to do after high school?

Brad: I’m going to attend Northern Michigan University where they host the Greco-Roman Olympic Training Site. I’m going to be a student, a wrestler, and I’m going to join the Michigan National Guard as a Combat Engineer. Bombers is helping me prepare for all of those things.

John: I’m going to go to college in Virginia, wrestle, and then join the Army as an Infantry Officer.

What impact has CrossFit had on your life/lifestyle/level of fitness?

John: CrossFit has really affected my life. It has made me stronger, faster, and generally more fit which has significantly helped me in wrestling.

Brad: CrossFit has helped me have strength and endurance for wrestling. It has also helped me develop good exercise habits and how to lift safely.

What advice would you give to a newbie?

Brad: Keep with it and challenge yourself.

John: My advice for someone new is to enjoy the grind and stick with it. Workouts may suck sometimes but it’s helping you improve your health and well-being.
