Following a daily Bible study plan is similar to keeping yourself fed. With it, you become spiritually strong, energized, and able to take on the world’s challenges. But without it, you succumb more easily to doubt, temptation, and anguish. If your busy life has made it difficult to keep up with your studies in the past, use the tips below to make completing daily readings and devotionals a regular part of your life moving forward.

How to Incorporate Daily Bible Study Habits

1. Break It Up

Reading the Bible in its entirety can feel overwhelming, but when you divide it into a few chapters at a time, the stress disappears. Establish a reading goal and a timeline. For instance, if you want to read the book in its entirety this year, complete a mere four chapters a day. However, don’t think it’s necessary to read all of it. Your life might be better served by focusing on particular areas at a time — such as studying the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

2. Write Down Your Revelations

3. Read in a Group

Being consistent with your Bible study might become difficult as you try to fit it into your busy schedule. Making plans to read and study with other people provides a way to hold yourself accountable to your reading goals. It also allows you to discuss what you gleaned from each passage with others and hear what their thoughts are, which can aid you in figuring out how to take the passage and apply it to your life.

Bible study is best accompanied by attending sermons at church. For over 30 years, City of Refuge Christian Church in Waipahu, HI, has helped to spiritually strengthen its members with its uncompromising message of God. Their pastor, Dr. Wayne Anderson, preaches “You have a right to be free,” and makes it his mission to make disciples of all people. They accept members from every ethnicity, culture, and background.
