Hawaii has hundreds, if not thousands, of pools. It’s a wonderful feature to have, especially during our balmy, tropical summer days! Maintaining a pool’s water is made simpler due to the automated circulation and chemical systems. But what happens when there’s abnormal water loss? Water clarity, chemical distribution, and the structure are adversely affected! Some tell-tale signs are constant refilling of water, more or less chemicals to the water, and sagging pool decks.

leak detectionThere’s a simple test to verify whether you need Waialae Plumbing & Construction to perform a leak detection. A bucket test is a simple test that’s easy to perform, providing there’s a five-gallon bucket to do the test. Fill the bucket up to about an inch from the top and set it on the first or second step of the pool. Mark the water level both inside and outside of the bucket.

After 24 hours, check both water levels again. If the drop in the water levels is even on both sides, then you don’t have a leak. If the outer level drops more than the inner level, there’s a leak in the pool. That’s the time to call Waialae Plumbing & Construction to perform a pool leak detection. Remember that this is an evaporation test, so don’t use the pool during the test. Also, heavy rain will affect the test, and it may need to be done again.

Our team has the equipment and expertise to perform a pool leak detection to help pinpoint the source of the water loss, other than evaporation. So call Waialae Plumbers & Construction at (808) 735-8595 if you’re in need of a leak detection!
