While health and fitness are priorities for many people, fitting in regular gym workouts can often be a challenge. Between work, home life, and social obligations, the schedule of the average person may leave little room for a trip to the gym. To help you find the time, below are three tips for integrating more frequent workouts into your calendar.

How to Incorporate Workouts in Your Schedule

1. Wake Up Early

By the end of a long workday, a lot of people are understandably too beat for a visit to the gym. Instead, try to get up about 45 minutes earlier than you normally would, and head to the gym. The constant movement—whether you’re on a bike or running on a treadmill—will not only burn calories, but it’ll help wake you up. By going to the gym in the morning, you’ll feel more energized throughout the day and you can head home after work as usual in the evening.

2. Make an Ongoing Appointment

gymA regular workout routine is crucial for good health and wellness. Schedule gym time just as you would schedule a visit to the doctor or a meeting with a colleague. At the beginning of each workweek, look at your schedule, see where a workout can be added, and block off that time in your smartphone calendar. Another possibility is to check the available fitness classes at your gym and sign up for one or enroll in regular sessions with a personal trainer. Knowing you have that commitment can be enough to get you there.

3. Bring a Friend

Have an accountability buddy. Choose someone reliable with whom you would be comfortable working out. You two can keep each other on task through routine visits to the gym. Also, exercising with a friend can make working out much more enjoyable and make the time pass faster.
