Are you frequently seeing your iPad® tablet’s battery quickly drain after minimal use? Before you opt for a new product, there are a few tried-and-true tricks to try to generate more life. A fast-draining battery doesn’t always mean it’s time to purchase a new or used Apple® product. In many cases, it’s simply related to how you’re using the device.

How to Extend Your iPad Tablet’s Battery Life

1. Adjust the Settings

You’d be surprised at how much battery power is wasted on the display. Toy with the brightness and find a lower setting. To adjust it, swipe down from the top-right corner of the tablet’s screen. A brightness bar with a light icon will appear on the dashboard. Drag your finger up and down to adjust the brightness.

To do this, go to “Settings,” “Display & Brightness,” and then “Auto-Lock.” You can also prevent additional drain by turning off notifications. When they pop up while you’re not using the iPad, they still illuminate the screen. To do this, click “Settings” and then “Notifications.” Here, you can determine which apps send notifications and which don’t.

2. Update Your iOS

When Apple releases new iOS updates, they’re designed to benefit new and used Apple product owners. By optimizing performance and introducing new features, you can count on better management of battery life. Most updates also target more efficient charging. Updates may install on their own; if they don’t, plug the device into a charger and go to “Settings,” “General,” and “Software Update.”

3. Visit a Repair Shop

If the previous tips aren’t making a noticeable difference, you may need to visit a repair shop. A technician can look at your new or used Apple product and determine if there’s something else affecting the battery life. You might need an upgrade or a system reset. Regardless, you can count on the best results by putting it in a professional’s hands.
