1. Castle Neuschwanstein – Germany

Rising out of a sprawling landscape of lakes, forests, and hills, Castle Neuschwanstein is one of Germany’s treasures. This castle was built in the 1880s as a place for King Ludwig II to escape the public eye. After his death, the elegant castle was opened to the public. The international travel destination is more popular in the summer, as winter can be harsh in the Bavarian Alps.
