Setting Goals

I hope everyone has enjoyed the Holidays. It is hard to believe we are now in 2019, the last millennium far behind us.   For many, including myself, it is a time to exhale from a Season that can be extremely busy and sometimes chaotic.  Personally, I spent the last days of the year reflecting on the goals I made for myself for 2018. I must admit some of my goals in 2018 made it to my 2019 list. For those with Parkinson’s, setting goals can give you a long-term vision and short-term motivation.  Having Parkinson’s tends to lead to apathy and low motivation in individuals.  To combat these symptoms, I think it is important to set some goals to help you take control of your disease. You can do this tapping into the power of the mind and empowering yourself to take control of your Parkinson’s.

If you haven’t already, please consider taking small steps and consider doing some or all of the following:

  • Join a support group
  • Partner with your doctor
  • Exercise, Exercise, Exercise – Join a Parkinson’s’ exercise group
  • Consider alternate approaches
  • Become an Advocate
  • Sign up for clinical trials
  • Join a CAP Committee.  We are always looking for Volunteers!

CAP had its last Board meeting of the year on December 30th.  We spent a good deal of the meeting setting our own goals for 2019. We have many initiatives in the works that will promote research, clinical trials, and wellness programs.  We will also continue to run our three Support Groups. As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, we rely on the public’s generosity to support our programs. CAP will have several Fundraising events throughout the year. Please support us, so that we can help find a Cure and continue to help those with Parkinson’s.

Do you know someone who is fighting Parkinson’s?  If so, please have them contact one of our local support groups. Contact information can be found on our website at www.parkinsonsct.org.  If you or a loved one has never attended a CAP support group meeting, we would love to see you there.

Warm Regards,
