Over the years, home exteriors can accumulate a great deal of grime, leaving your home looking unkempt or dated. Fortunately, by pressure washing the exterior, you can remove dirt, stains, and even mold growth, leaving your home looking fresh and clean. Here are three tips for power-washing vinyl siding to prevent damaging your siding installation

Power-Washing Tips for Siding Installations

1. Inspect and Protect the Area

Before you start power-washing your home, do some preparation work to protect delicate light fixtures, porch decorations, and landscaping. Check the exterior of your home for siding damage, and remove any furniture, decorations, or mats that could become wet or damaged during the process.

If you will be using cleaning chemicals during power-washing, water the lawn and plants around your home thoroughly before beginning. By watering plants, you can dilute cleaning chemicals that may drip down during washing, protecting the area.

2. Start Slow

3. Use Smooth, Sweeping Motions

As you wash your siding, use smooth, sweeping motions to whisk away surface grime. Avoid keeping the pressure washer stream in the same place for very long to prevent paint or siding damage.
