According to several articles on the Internet, there are persuasive reasons why deciding to give someone a special experience as a gift can be more rewarding than buying a present you can wrap and put under the Christmas tree.

Studies have shown that the pleasure and excitement of anticipation is much greater for experiences than for material gifts. Scientists also have discovered that although people think that there will be more value in getting an object they want, when it comes to describing what makes them happiest, they usually choose experiences.

Another important factor that favors experiences is that they are almost always done with others, increasing social interaction and satisfaction. It also has been shown that there seems to be less envy generated by comparing gifts that are based on experiences rather than things. Finally, the pleasant memories of that special event, meal, concert, etc. will likely last far longer, perhaps a lifetime.

The St. Laurent School of Dance is offering A Fairy Princess Extravaganza from 9 to 11 am on Saturday, January 5th. This two-hour special treat for your favorite young lady (ages 5 – 10) will include dressing up, face painting, crafting, playing games and dancing.
