Although word of mouth is highly effective, most, if not all, companies also rely on other forms of advertising to get the word out. One of the most effective ways to reach the masses is through car and truck wraps. However, as with any form of advertising, you should use the proper technique to ensure that your ad is memorable.

Do:

Include contact information.

The purpose of an advertisement is to get more business, which is not possible if customers don’t know where to purchase your goods or services. In addition to the name of your company, include your phone number, website, and email address or social media handles. Make sure this information is clearly visible from at least a few feet away.

Use contrast.

Contrasting colors make designs and wording stand out. Pertinent information, such as your contact infoformation and advertising message, should be clearly distinguishable from the rest of the design. For instance, on a primarily black and white wrap, you may choose a red or green font for your logo and contact information to make it stand out.

Make a statement.

Don’t be afraid to be bold. Make a statement with your design with larger-than-life pictures or graphics and large font. In order to convey your message, you need to grab people’s attention. Use professionally produced photographs or graphics as well; these images are engaging and show that you’re professional and pay attention to detail.

Don’t:

Put too much copy.

truck wrapIt’s important to be informative but too much information can make people less inclined to keep reading. Keep the copy short and sweet. You don’t need to share every detail of your business, product, or service. Instead, give them the basics with tight, engaging copy. Prospective customers can contact you or visit your website if they’d like more information.

Overcrowd the design.

Similarly, avoid overcrowding the design. Your design may be detailed and elaborate or sleek and minimalist, depending on your brand and campaign strategy. But whatever it is, make sure it draws in the eye without being too busy. A design with too much going on can distract from the message.

Forget to consider all angles.

Unlike a stationary billboard, a truck wrap will be seen from 360 degrees. Consider what people will see from the sides and back, as well as the front. While it may not be possible or necessary to wrap the entire truck, you should ensure vital information, such as your contact information and name, is visible from the back as well as the sides.
