There are many issues that can arrive in your home when preventative measures are not taken to assure your pipe’s integrity. Being aware of the most common issues in your home’s plumbing can help relieve the stress that something could go wrong. However, if problems do arise in your home plumbing, we at All Clear are the go-to for Mid-Missouri in order to get your pipes up and running again.

Top 3 Most Common Plumbing Issues:

Burst Pipes

As the seasons change and so do temperatures, the pipes in your home are constantly being expanded and constricted. This movement is the prime culprit when it comes to bursting pipes. In order to minimize this, make sure that your house stays above 32 degrees so that no water is freezing and causing excess expansion. Make sure that all of the areas around your water heater, vents, and other pipes are well insulated so that none of the frigid winter air can affect the pipes.

Clogged/Smelly Pipes

If your pipes are getting clogged or letting out an unpleasant odor, it is usually an easy fix. In order to keep the lines from drying up or building up debris, run hot water after you use the sink, or for added effect, toss some baking soda or vinegar in before rinsing with hot water. Do not pour cooking grease or empty coffee grounds into the sink. Use a screen over the drain so that there are no large pieces of food going into the sink.

No Hot Water

Loss of hot water is usually due to a malfunction in the water heater, an electrical problem, or a leak somewhere in the pipe. In order to prevent this we recommend annual maintenance to ensure that your pipes stay up and running. Another issue could be that the thermostat on your water heater is not at the proper temperature. Turning up the thermostat may help with rapidly losing hot water.
