Back pain can range from a mild annoyance to severely debilitating pain that limits your ability to work or enjoy time with loved ones. No matter how bad your pain is, this isn’t something you should simply accept as a daily part of life. Take some simple steps to treat your pain and you’ll find that your quality of life is much improved.

How to Treat Back Pain

1. Rest

If your back pain is the result of an injury or stress, then the best thing you can do is rest. Give yourself two to three days without any strenuous physical activity. In the first couple hours after the injury, ice it on and off every fifteen minutes and take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen. After the first day, you can relieve tight muscles with the application of heat.

2. Yogaback pain

If your pain is chronic, then yoga or other forms of exercise can both stretch out and strengthen your back muscles. This will not only help treat your pain but will help prevent injuries in the future. Only start an exercise regimen after your doctor has approved it, as pushing yourself too far could actually cause injury and make your pain worse.

3. Spinal Manipulation

Spinal manipulation is one of the most effective natural ways to treat lower back pain. During this process, the chiropractor doctor gently manipulates the vertebrae in the spine to relieve pressure and pain.  Because the spine is part of the central nervous system, manipulating it properly can also improve your nerve function and reduce inflammation.
