Law enforcement personnel will be out in full force on New Year’s Eve in an attempt to keep the bars, clubs, and roads safe for everyone. And considering Connecticut’s proximity to New York, where one of the biggest parties of the year will be hosted, those celebrating in the Constitution State can expect police to be everywhere. If you plan ahead and follow a few simple tips, though, you won’t have to worry about arranging for a bondsman service on January 1st

How to Avoid Arrest This New Year's Eve

1. Don’t Drink & Drive

Drinking and driving will almost certainly lead to arrest on New Year’s Eve because police are especially vigilant about getting impaired drivers off the roads that night. If you’re planning on going out drinking, designate a driver, call a cab, or use a ride-share service.

2. Avoid Altercations

bailIt doesn't take much for a minor altercation to develop into an all-out brawl, especially if any of the parties involved are impaired. And since physical altercations often end with at least one arrest, it’s best to avoid them altogether. If you find yourself in a stressful or tense situation with someone who may not be in the best state of mind, leave the area as quickly as possible.

3. Skip the Fireworks

While sparklers and fountains are legal in the state of Connecticut, all other fireworks are prohibited. If you’re determined to ring in the New Year with a breathtaking light display, head to a local event that promises a fireworks show instead of hosting one yourself.
