A great business security system is vital whether you’re trying to protect inventory, business assets, or your employees. There are multiple facets to consider: doors, user access, and more. Taking a few steps to improve your security will help everyone feel more comfortable and protect what matters most.

How to Improve Your Business Security System

1. Upgrade Your Doors

Some doors and locks are much higher rated for security than others. Install high-security doors on all exterior access points; look for ones that are reinforced with steel. Choose ones that automatically lock when they close so that employees won’t accidentally leave an exterior door unlocked. Install a door closer on these as well, so they won’t be left ajar.

2.  Limit Access

With electronic key cards, you can limit who has access to specific parts of the building, and in what time frames they can enter the area. If someone loses their key card, you can instantly cancel its allowances to prevent unwanted access. When an employee leaves the company, ensure they return their keys immediately.

3. Install an Alarm System

Alarm systems protect your building when you’re not there to know what’s happening. Install alarms on all windows and doors. A visibly installed system is often enough to deter burglars or other trespassers. If it doesn’t, a monitored system will automatically alert first responders, so they can get there quickly and handle the situation.
