What Is the Triad Holiday Concert Series?

In 1987, FOX8 and Old Dominion Freight Line recognized a need for food collection within the region and began organizing a series of holiday concerts as a way to give back to the community. Admission was a simple canned food donation. Since the start of this annual endeavor, it’s been estimated that approximately nine million cans of food have been gathered and donated to the local Salvation Army.

The Triad Holiday Concert Series is always held in regional facilities and this year’s performances will be at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro on Dec. 14 and the Lawrence Joel Veteran Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem on Dec. 15. Both performances start at 7:30 p.m. Each performance includes a selection of local talent and will feature the symphony from that particular area.

The entire goal of these concerts is to collect donations for the Salvation Army, and last year’s event made it possible for 22,000 people to be served.
