Your mornings are crazy right? Between the kids, dog, workout, and your morning commute, there’s not much extra time to plan your day. Here are 5 tips for your morning that will help you lose weight.

  1. Eat a high protein breakfast.  To help get your day off to a good start, consider protein sources like Greek yogurt, eggs, cottage cheese,  or a meal replacement shake or bar.  Studies show this will help keep you satisfied longer and help banish cravings.
  2. Weigh yourself. Either daily in the morning as soon as you get up or once a week in the morning has been proven to help with weight loss and weight maintenance.  Don’t re-weigh later in the day. You will fluctuate during the day and it may be more confusing and disappointing to do so.  
  3. Pack a lunch.  Even if you don’t have time in the morning, try working in a little time the night before or on the weekend to make this happen.  You will most likely get better nutrition, stay closer to your calorie budget, and save money by doing this.
  4. Hydrate.  Before coffee, drink a quick 12 -16 ounces of water. This will give you a jump start on your water for the day.  Being properly hydrated also helps curb cravings and keeps you from feeling sluggish during the day.
  5. Squeeze in some activity.  Even just 10 minutes of walking the dog can help.  These activities in the morning can make that workout happen. As the day goes on there are too many ways a workout can get placed to the back of your priorities. Start with a short duration, slowly increasing as your routine is established.
