When you’re traveling long distance by plane or charter bus, it’s crucial to pack thoughtfully. What you bring with you can make all the difference between a comfortable, pleasant trip and a negative experience. Plan ahead and bring these items with you on your business, club, or school trip.

What to Pack

1. Pillow

Charter BusMany modern charter buses have comfortable seats, but it helps to have a comfortable piece of bedding that you’re accustomed to. Your favorite pillow can support your head or go behind your back, making it that much easier to get comfy or even doze off.

2. Sweater, Coat, or Blanket

While the driver will do their best to keep the bus at a comfortable temperature, you may find it’s too cold for your liking. A blanket or an extra layer of clothing will help you keep warm if you need it. As long as you have layers, you’ll be able to adjust your wardrobe to ensure your overall comfort; you may even save room in your suitcase this way.

3. Food

Even on a short trip, it’s a good idea to bring snacks, as you may not be able to stop for food. On longer excursions, plan for full meals. Make sure you pick something that’s easy to eat without utensils, like a sandwich, chips, or candy.

4. Toiletries

If you’re going to be away from home overnight or just for a long day, pack a bag with a toothbrush, comb, and some other essentials. This way, you’ll look and feel better every step of your journey — and if you get separated from your luggage, at least you’ll be able to brush your teeth.

5. Entertainment

Hours on a charter bus can seem to stretch forever, so find a way to fill the time. A book, smartphone, tablet, e-reader, and music device are excellent options that you can also share with neighboring passengers. If you’re relying on something electronic, bring the charger.
