Vacation in Hawaii!? How can you not be excited about that! Prior to arriving in the Hawaiian Islands I decided to do some research on must do’s in Hawaii. I mean come on, it’s not every day that I get to vacation in paradise and I wanted to make the most of it! Also majority of the things I wanted to do were ocean activities in Hawaii!

Upon searching for Hawaii’s best beaches I found Lanikai Beach located in Kailua and according to Trip Advisor it’s rated one of the Top 10 beaches in the nation! I also heard kayaking is also one of the top 10 things to do in Hawaii and low and behold The Mokulua Islands AKA “The Mokes” which are located just offshore from Lanikai Beach. It was like a gift from God how everything fell into my lap from then on.

Through the internet I searched for tours in Hawaii and I found Twogood Kayaks. A nice little local company specializing in the best kayak tours, rentals and retail for pretty much all your kayaking needs. Guess what? they were located in Kailua and did tours out to the Mokulua Islands!!

Now I was a little worried because I’ve never been kayaking before so I decided to give them a call to ask some questions. I spoke to their friendly office staff who reassured me that going out to The Mokulua Islands is one of the best activities to do in Hawaii. Their tour guides are CPR and lifeguard certified and are there to assist you every step of the way, and that The Mokes also has some of the best snorkeling in Hawaii! I was sold! I booked my guided tour right then and there over the phone!

I arrive in Hawaii on the island of Oahu the night before my tour. Let me tell you, I couldn’t  have started my vacation better any other way! From the complementary hotel pick up in Waikiki, to the beautiful drive over the Pali Highway, to arriving at the shop welcomed by the awesome staff and guides. The staff made sure I was given proper safety briefing and had all the correct equipment. They assisted me in launching my kayak into the ocean and even while we were paddling out there! I got to explore, snorkel and have lunch on the Mokulua Island. I enjoyed my time so much that I as the driver drove us back over the scenic Pali Highway I told myself I was coming back one last time before I left Hawaii.

That’s exactly what I did! After picking up my rent-a-car I drove back over to the east side of the island went straight to Twogood Kayaks and got me a kayak rental! The office staff gave me a thorough safety breifing showed me how to load my kayak on the car with the provided straps and roof racks. I chose to kayak out to China Man’s Hat which is about a thirty minute drive from the Kailua but still within the Koolaupoko District. One of the staff member at Twogood’s mentioned that the hike up to the top of China Man’s Hat was one of Hawaii’s best hikes! Oh man it was! the view from the top looking back at the Koolau mountains was breathtaking!

My experience with Twogood Kayaks was the highlight of my vacation my Hawaii! It definitely is one of Hawaii’s best adventures. Even if someone asked my what to do on a rainy day on Hawaii?  I would tell them give Twogood Kayaks a call, you wont regret it!
