Upgrades

A cost effective upgrade is to add an alarm to your existing or new setup. Many newer brand pumps tout bluetooth connection like nearly any new appliance has the capabilities today. This particular appliance however deserves a little more attention in that detail. If the power is out, and your pump is out, most likely so is your wi-fi. This means you will likely not receive any notification until well after the event. It is also unwise to trust a less than top grade pump in such a crucial and corrosive environment. We use a cast iron, oil cooled pump that has stood the test of time – a test we do not take lightly in our 111 years of plumbing in Cincinnati. We will not stand behind a pump that we have not seen in service in such an environment for less than a decade.

We would recommend installing an alarm that has more capabilities – such as backup power and contacting you when the power is out by SMS text message. Contacting you when the temperature drops cold enough to damage your home, when there is a leak under a fixture, when your basement is flooding or if your sewage pump fails. We install such a system with many different applications to suit your home's unique needs. When you're at work, or on the other side of the planet; knowing the power is on, the heat is operating in the dead of winter, the basement is not flooding and your investments are safe is peace of mind beyond monetary value.

The final upgrade is a battery backup which will operate when the power is out – this option is also best suited for the alarm upgrade in case the power is out for an extended period of time where the battery will eventually fail. If you are out of town you can also allow the alarm to contact your house sitter or a relative.
