A Night of Sharing at the Bethany House

On Halloween night, three volunteers from Lacy Katzen - Collin Doane, Sherry Rettew and Wendy 't Sas, coordinated and served up a meal for the residents at Bethany House. Residents of the house gathered in the cozy dining area for a shared meal of roasted chicken, sausage, peppers & onions, roasted potatoes, baked ziti and salad.  After the meal, candy was passed out in the spirit of Halloween.  Meg Burkhard, house director, and Marie Willis, house manager, give everyone who comes through the doors of Bethany House a warm and inviting welcome.

Bethany House is a Catholic Worker House of Hospitality in the city of Rochester.  It first opened its doors to homeless women and their children in 1977. Along with operating as an emergency shelter, Bethany House also operates as an emergency food cupboard for women and children and as a drop-in center for women and children during daytime hours Monday - Friday.  Women are welcomed to drop in for support, encouragement, advocacy, friendship and comfort as the need arises in their daily life.

Lacy Katzen is grateful for the opportunity to connect with these wonderful people and support this valuable community resource.
