November 11 marks Veterans Day, recognizing U.S. veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made. Whether you have a family member who served or simply appreciate the freedoms you enjoy as an American, everyone has reason to celebrate this event. As part of their mission to show their gratitude to the country’s armed forces, Pearlridge Center of Aiea, Hawaii’s largest enclosed shopping mall, is spreading the word about Veterans Day.

What Veterans Day Means to Americans

shopping mallVeterans Day was first celebrated at the end of World War I, when it was known as Armistice Day. It was renamed following the Second World War and adapted to honor veterans of all wars. Now a three-day weekend gives Americans the time to pause and reflect on what their fellow countrymen and women have accomplished.

There are many ways you can mark this occasion. If you know a service member, treat them to a special day out, like a nice meal or movie. You can also check your local area for events honoring military members. Many communities have Veteran Service Organizations providing support to military members and their families. There may be volunteer opportunities as well.

How Pearlridge Center Shopping Mall Thanks Veterans

This Veterans Day, Pearlridge Center wants to take the time to thank the brave men and women who fight for U.S. freedoms. These individuals leave behind their own families to ensure Americans remain safe and secure. One day of recognition is the least that can be done to acknowledge this.

Many of the stores at the shopping mall offer military discounts with a valid ID. Pearlridge Center is just 5 minutes away from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam and Fort Shafter. You can get an overview of participating retailers online. With an array of eateries and a movie theater, Pearlridge Center is also the perfect place to say thank you to a service member by treating them to a day out. If you have any questions, call the shopping mall at (808) 488-0981.
