Hydroseeding gives home and business owners an easy, low-cost way to add turf to their landscapes. However, many people wonder how long those newly planted seeds will take to grow and how to ensure a gorgeous, even outcome. Here is a brief guide regarding hydroseeding growth and how to care for your brand new lawn.

When Will Hydroseed Start to Sprout?

Grass seed needs moisture, sunlight, and nutrients to germinate properly, so it can take as long as five to seven days to see your hydroseeded lawn begin to sprout. After the lawn has started to germinate, it will take additional time for each individual grass seed to develop a strong root and grow a blade long enough to prevent soil erosion and wear.

To ensure proper growth, experts recommend carefully preparing the ground with a fresh layer of topsoil and keeping newly placed seed moist at all times for the first seven to 10 days by watering at least two to three times per day. After that time frame, watering can be reduced to once a day. After three weeks of growth, watering can be shifted to once every other day.

When Can You Walk On & Cut a Hydroseeded Lawn?

hydroseedingSetting up a yard can include troubleshooting irrigation and installing landscaping elements, which is why you might be tempted to walk on a lawn that was just hydroseeded. While it is safe to walk on a newly seeded lawn, you should step carefully to not impact the underlying mulch mat. New lawns can be cut after three to four weeks of growth.
