Rodents are a dangerous pest to have running loose in your house. They carry diseases and can do a lot of damage to your property. Because mice and rats are good at staying hidden, you should know the red flags that signal you have pests living in your home. Call for rodent control immediately if you notice any of the signs below.

When to Hire Rodent Control

1. Droppings

Though you may not see the critters themselves, mice and rats will leave droppings behind. Their droppings are less than a quarter inch long, dark and moist when they are fresh, and become lighter in color as they dry out, eventually turning gray. They’re typically found in places the rodents frequent such as near food, under sinks, and inside of cupboards.

2. Gnaw Marks

rodent controlRodents will chew on anything: food packaging, wood, wiring and more. They’ll gnaw holes through your walls or cupboards to create a pathway for themselves, and will chew through food packaging to get to what’s inside. Immediately throw away any food that has gnaw marks on it before calling for residential rodent control, as it may have been exposed to diseases.

3. Nests

Rodents will use materials that they’ve found or chewed up to create their nests. You’ll find these nests in dark, small corners such as in your attic, inside walls, or at the back of cupboards. These nests could be made of paper, fabric, plants, or wood. They may also nest close to your home in the yard, in trees or ground burrows, then enter your home to scavenge for food.
