If you’re looking for a way to beautify your landscaping this fall, consider adding some plants to your garden. Just because the temperatures are dropping doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy pretty flowers in your yard. Here are a few plant ideas that will look perfect in your garden this autumn.

Beautiful Autumn Garden Plants

1. Shrubs

Shrubs can improve the appearance of your landscaping, provide shelter for birds, and filter dust and other pollutants. The soil is still warm in the fall, so root development can occur. Plant shrubs at their natural soil lines and water them regularly until true winter arrives. Here in the south, that gives you plenty of time.

2. Chrysanthemums

landscapingChrysanthemums come in many colors and sizes. These flowers can be planted directly in your landscaping or put in containers for a more decorative look. Once the leaves die, put some shredded leaves over them to shield them from harsh winter weather.

3. Sedum

If you are looking for a plant that requires minimal maintenance, go with sedum. Available in several different sizes, colors, and shapes, sedums have thick leaves that make them resistant to drought. All you have to do is plant them in a sunny area and then enjoy their beauty. Some of these plants even grow heads of pink or red flowers during the fall.

4. Nippon Daisy

Known for its gorgeous, white flowers, the Nippon daisy can grow anywhere from 24 to 36 inches tall and is frost tolerant. This plant will retain its colors even when temperatures dip below freezing. Nippon daisies will also attract butterflies to your yard.
