With the growing skilled trade shortage in the U.S., electrical, plumbing and other related professions are in constant demand. Southeast Community College is proud to offer a Plumbing Technology program that prepares students through real-world learning. Beginning in January, this one-year program will give you all the skills needed to start a rewarding career with plenty of lucrative opportunities and room to grow.

Why Is There a Plumber Shortage?

During the Great Recession, many contractors lost their jobs and never returned to work. That, coupled with the fact that school-age youth are showing less interest in skilled trades, has led to a lack of qualified individuals to carry on this vital vocation.

What Are the Benefits of Being a Plumber?plumbing program

On average, a plumber in Nebraska makes around $50,000 a year. And because of the shortage of incoming plumbers, you also will benefit from greater job stability and more advancement opportunities.

There is a variety of plumbing career options, such as working on commercial properties, municipal systems, or engineering new plumbing solutions. You can choose to join an existing contracting firm or set out with your own business. You’ll always find new challenges and will enjoy the independence of steering your career where you want.
