For many families, attending church services is a way to teach every member of the household about Jesus Christ as well as how to serve others in their communities. Though there are an abundance of ministry activities for adults, it doesn’t mean your children can’t also get involved. Below are several ways your child can participate at church as they develop their relationship with their Lord and Savior.

3 Ways Your Child Can Participate in Church

1. Sunday School

Sending your children to Sunday school is an excellent way to foster their sense of belonging in church. Some churches have large congregations, and children can sometimes be intimidated by crowds. Sunday school breaks the larger group into smaller numbers where your child can learn about Christ, ask questions, and get to know other members of the congregation in a safe, educational setting.

2. Youth Groups

churchFor older children who are well into their teenage years or just coming into adolescence, a youth group may be the best way to get them more involved in the church. Being a teenager in the days of social media can be difficult, which is why the youth need a place that will encourage and challenge them in the best ways. They will learn about their Savior with others their age as well as how to navigate the often confusing world with Christ in the center of their lives.

3. Bible Study

Children don’t only learn about the lessons of Jesus through Sunday sermons; they also learn by reading the Bible. Weekly Bible study gives them the opportunity to gain valuable life lessons through the word of God. It encourages spiritual conversations and participation, which means your child won’t merely be a spectator at service. Bible study also helps your child develop their own understanding of scripture as well as their personal relationship with the Lord.
