The Pink Palace Family of Museums has long been known for bringing fun and innovative entertainment to the Memphis, TN, community. Now, the tradition will continue with a new addition: laser light shows and movies, to be held every Friday evening. Starting Oct. 5, 2018, “Fab Fridays” will welcome tourists and locals alike. Find out what to expect when you head to the museum this fall.

What Fab Fridays Will Offer

pink palaceThe idea for the new event series took root in spring of 2018, when the Pink Palace Family of Museums held a laser light show test run. Highlights included Pink Floyd, the Beatles and a rock compilation entitled “Laser Vinyl.” The shows were a hit, with every single night being sold out.

Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the community, the museum decided to go ahead and invest in a state-of-the-art laser light projector for its AutoZone® Dome at the Sharpe Planetarium. The SkyLase system is specifically designed for domed planetariums and features colorful imagery and animations that are sure to wow you.

How to Join in the Fun

Starting Oct. 5, the Pink Palace Family of Museums will host these laser light shows as well as big-screen movies, all with the aim of getting Memphis into the TGIF spirit. The museum hasn’t been open on Fridays for years and has appropriately coined this fun new endeavor “Fab Fridays.”

The first scheduled show is the Halloween-themed “Fright Light.” The spookiest month of the year will continue with this theme, showing classics like “Bride of Frankenstein” and “Creature from the Black Lagoon.” October’s schedule will also include Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” and “Laser Metallica.”

You can get a full overview of the upcoming shows online. Whether you are a Memphis, TN, local or simply planning on stopping through town, don't wait to get your tickets before they are sold out. If you have any questions, call the Pink Palace Family of Museums directly at (901) 636-2362.
